PCVR Medieval Halloween Artwork

New game artwork is being sketched out, Social media and Steam page will be updated with the new artwork once finished. But I’m going for a dark gothic comic book style for the game. I think it best suits the game and play style. Here’s a few photos of the design as it evolved. I’m extremely happy with the final image.

Screenshot reference photo

We placed the skeletal mesh actors and posed them inside a blank level, added some flame vfx in the background and the in game loading screen logo behind them. The goal was to keep it simple but have a gothic comic book look to it.

A few different sketches were made

In a high-tech digital world sometimes old-fashioned pencil and paper sketches are the way to go. We felt this would also give use the style we were looking for.

The final contenders

We eventually got it down to two options.

The design we liked the best.

Simple, showed off the main characters of the game and really had the comic book cover vibe we were going for.

Added more shading

Before going to full color, more shading and defines edges were added.

Scanned to digital and Color added

After adding color it was scanned to create a digital copy, it would get color, contrast and sharpening adjustments. Along with being sized for various media requirements.

Final Image

After digital adjustments here’s the final image that will be used as the main photo for the game. I think we achieved the goal of a gothic comic book cover.
